BlackStorm Consulting announces a partnership with Numbers Protocol to promote trust in the digital media world in Southeast Asia through a combination of traditional cryptography approaches and blockchain technology.
Using deepfake technology, it becomes easier to edit images or videos and pass them off as “the truth”. Images can be easily retrieved using screenshots, cropped or copied directly from any website and pasted elsewhere. It therefore becomes harder to identify the origin of the image. Images, digital art, artwork for digital cards are key to the Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) industry. NFTs are digital assets that are certified and registered in a blockchain which record ownership of the asset, and such digital assets can then be traded. With NFTs gaining popularity, the NFT industry continues to face a challenge in authenticating the source of visual media assets, differentiating the real from the fake.
Numbers Protocol’s technology strives to solve this issue by recording data about the creation of a digital media content, with a digital signature at the point of origin, storing information about its creator, date, time, and location where it was created. These records are stored on the blockchain, are immutable and can be traced. It also issues a certificate of authenticity and ensures that the digital assets contain traceable multi-layered information.
According to data from Statista, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Thailand all rank among the top 10 countries in crypto adoption in 2020. With Southeast Asia’s NFT market growing, Numbers Protocol sought to scale their operations in this region and joined IAPS’s (Center of Industry Accelerator and Patent Strategy, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University) Access to Asia Programme, a programme designed for businesses interested in exploring opportunities of extended venture acceleration into Southeast Asia. Through the programme, BlackStorm Consulting will work with Numbers Protocol to scale their mission in Southeast Asia with a network of partners. BlackStorm Consulting is a Singapore-based consultancy firm that works with startups and small and medium enterprises that are looking to internationalise and scale their businesses in Southeast Asia, often assisting them with their strategic needs, identifying and resolving gaps.
Numbers Protocol has also recently launched their digital token ($NUM) that is currently listed on Gate, KuCoin, Uniswap, and Pancakeswap, and has announced plans for a beta launch of an NFT Search Engine that will allow users to check the NFT history of visual media assets for theft detection.
