Taiwanese Tech Providers Connect at the Wow! Taiwan Project in Jakarta

September 18, 2024: The Wow! Taiwan Project kicked off an exciting three-day journey in Jakarta, Indonesia, bringing together leading Taiwanese tech providers and key stakeholders in the safety and security sector. This event paved the way for future collaboration, innovation, and investment between Taiwan and Indonesia.

From stakeholder meetings and business forums to exploring groundbreaking urban development projects, the Wow! Taiwan delegation showcased cutting-edge solutions that can transform both countries’ infrastructure and safety landscapes. Here’s a recap of each day’s key highlights.

Day 1: Engaging with Indonesia’s Key Stakeholders

On Day 1, the Wow! Taiwan delegation started their visit with productive discussions with Indonesian leaders in public works and housing. Our first stop was at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) where our delegates introduced Taiwanese innovations to address Indonesia’s urban planning and safety challenges. The various division heads provided invaluable feedback, highlighting the need for collaboration on infrastructure development.

Later in the day, we met with MSHE Group, a local leader in security solutions, to explore future partnerships. This meeting provided a platform for Taiwanese companies to present their tech-driven solutions to help secure Indonesia’s urban centers.

We ended the day with a group dinner, where we shared cultural insights and laid the groundwork for future business collaborations between Taiwan and Indonesia.

Day 2: Taiwan X Indonesia Safety and Security Forum

The second day of the Wow! Taiwan Project was all about innovation and solutions in the safety and security sector. During the Safety and Security Forum, Taiwan’s top tech providers showcased their breakthrough solutions to key Indonesian organisations. From disaster management to public safety, our companies provided innovative technologies that address some of Indonesia’s most pressing challenges.

We had the honor of Mr. Frank F. C. Lu, Director of the Taipei Economic and Trade Office in Indonesia, and Mr. Bayu Seto from Sinarmas Land, delivering the opening remarks that set the stage for a successful day of collaboration and discussion.

We were honored to have Ms. Komang Sri Hartini, Head of Data and Information Division at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), and Dr. Berton Suar Pelita Panjaitan, Director of Disaster Mitigation at the National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BNBP), share their insights on disaster mitigation and public safety in Indonesia.

Our Taiwanese partners were the stars of the show, presenting industry-leading products such as:

  • ESTSTAR International– Smart environment sensors for air quality monitoring.
  • Ta Tung Aluminium – Leading the market with durable, typhoon-resistant windows and doors.

  • SPL Design –  Redefining fire safety with the stylish and efficient SAVIORE-M+ extinguisher.
  • Brinno – Time-lapse photography to enhance safety and security monitoring.
  • Nestech Corporation– Mobile solutions for access control in urban areas.

The day was concluded with dynamic business matching sessions, where Taiwanese tech providers engaged in fruitful discussions with Indonesian businesses, creating new opportunities for collaboration and growth.

Day 3: Exploring Investment Opportunities at BSD City

The final day of the Wow! Taiwan delegation’s visit to Jakarta took us to BSD City Indonesia’s largest and most ambitious urban planning project. With over 6,000 hectares—half the size of Paris—BSD City is a forward-thinking initiative that combines housing, business, and commercial spaces into one smart, connected urban area.

Our visit to Living Lab Ventures at BSD City, hosted by Mr. Bayu Seto and Ms. Widyasari Prasetyo, allowed us to explore the role that Taiwanese innovation can play in Indonesia’s future development. With three-quarters of the area still to be developed, there is immense potential for collaboration between Taiwanese companies and BSD City to create a more sustainable and resilient urban environment.

The recent approval of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the area further enhances the investment potential, making BSD City an ideal location for international partnerships.
